CALIFA Busy Week

Almeria, 11-15 April, 2010


The CALIFA collaboration will celebrate a Busy Week the 11-15 April 2011.

The main goals of this meeting are:

  • To put in common the current expertise in the use of 3D spectroscopic data within the different members of the collaboration, and allow all its members to star to work on the CALIFA data.
  • Stimulate the collaboration between the different members by a set of split/working sessions, with a reduced number of people, and focused on the development of focused studies

Basic Information


Meeting Place

The meeting will be hold in the NH Ciudad de Almeria Hotel. Although you can stay in any other hotel, we have arrange a cheaper price for the participants in the Busy Week in this one.

We will have a large room for Joint Sessions and five smaller rooms for the Split Sessions (look at the Agenda). The idea is that the people come to work, and thefore it is recommended that any one brings his own laptop. We will have internet connect for all the people at each of the rooms.

The organization will not arrange the booking of your hotel rooms, but we will appreciate if you inform us (using the registration form) where to find you during this week.

The meals will be covered by the organization, and they will take place in the same hotel.

As you order your booking (if you are going to stay here), please tell them that, it is for the CALIFA Group. So you can get the special offer 49 Euros per night (plus 8% taxes) and breakfast 9,5 euros (plus 8% taxes). These costs are not covered, in principal, by the organization.


How to arrive?

  • By car

    If you arrive via the A7 from Málaga, you take exit "Almeria-Port." Passing the port area until you reach the junction of Highway Round Rambla, you'll see the obelisk. From here you go straight to the Plaza de la Estación, and at the roundabout you take the first exit left. When you get to a square in Barcelona, you have to turn right into Avenue Montserrat, where our car park is signposted. If you arrive via Murcia, the A7 should also take the exit "Aeropuerto". " If you come from Madrid or from the airport you take the N344 towards Almeria for 8 km. Once you're in town, you cross several roundabouts and once you pass under the Bridge of the Mediterranean and will be in the Avda de Montserrat. And if you travel from Granada (A92), must take the A7 towards Malaga and direction Almeria-Port. " Then you have to take the "Almeria - Crta de Ronda" and the first roundabout turn right onto Carretera de Ronda. You have to get to the crossroads at the Granada Road where you turn left to not leave the road. When you arrive to the Plaza Barcelona, take the first exit left, Avda de Montserrat, where the parking is placed.

  • By train

    From the train station you can walk to the hotel as it is very close.

  • By plane

    Once in the airport of Almeria, you can take the line 20 bus to Avenida de la Estación. To the right of the stop is the Plaza de Barcelona, with the building of Cajamar, below which the City Hall and next to our hotel. You can also take a taxi costing about 10 Euros.
